Involving local stakeholders in the management planning process - creating a local area partnership Yes. Although our NNR plan is primarily aimed at the restoration of the centre of the Moss, the outer parts of the site are in other private ownerships where owners have different management objectives. The plan recognises the importance of not only using the restoration of the site to promote the value of bogs and why alternatives to peat should be used in gardening to the public, but also of using this growing groundswell of support for peatlands not only to provide a boost to the local tourist economy, but also to influence the additional land owners to be more sympathetic to mire managment.
Site twinning and networking Thorn Moors and Hatfield Chase NNR, Glassons Moss and Wedholme Flow NNR, Tregaron Bog and Borth Bog NNRs, Ynys Hir RSPB reserve. (also demonstrations held for eastern europaean bog managers)
